Will fight for truth till last breath: Navjot Singh Sidhu a day after resigning as PCC chief

Chandigarh/IBNS: Rebel Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu Wednesday said he will continue to fight for truth till the last breath, remaining defiant a day after resigning as the party chief of the Punjab unit.

In a video message, Sidhu said, "My fight is issue-based and I have stood by it for a long time. There can't be any compromise on a pro-Punjab agenda. I can never misguide the high command nor allow it to be misguided."

Taking the party high command to a complete surprise, Sidhu resigned as the Punjab Congress chief days after his close colleague, Charanjit Singh Channi, was appointed as the Chief Minister, replacing Captain Amarinder Singh.

In his resignation letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, "The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab.

"Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress."

Sidhu's resignation is a shock to the Congress high command, which was instrumental in appointing Sidhu as the Punjab unit chief going against the will of then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
