'Will shave my head if INDIA ...': AAP's Somnath Bharti on exit polls

New Delhi: AAP leader Somnath Bharti, who is the INDIA alliance's candidate for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, has vowed to shave his head if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister for a third term as predicted by exit polls.

On Saturday, after the conclusion of the 7th and last phase of Lok Sabha Elections, exit polls forecast a decisive victory for the BJP and the NDA, with many predicting the alliance will secure over 350 Lok Sabha seats.

However, Somnath Bharti strongly disagrees with these predictions. The AAP MLA asserted that the exit polls will be proven wrong on Tuesday, when the votes are counted.

Additionally, most exit polls suggest the BJP will win at least six of Delhi's seven seats, mirroring its 2019 sweep. However, Bharti is confident that the INDIA alliance, with AAP contesting four seats and Congress three, will win all seven constituencies in Delhi this time.

"I will shave off my head if Mr Modi becomes PM for the third time. Mark my word! All exit polls will be proven wrong on 4th June and Modi ji will not become prime minister for the third time. In Delhi, all seven seats will go to India ALLIANCE," Bharti posted on X on Saturday.

AAP leader Somnath Bharti is contesting against Bansuri Swaraj of the BJP in the New Delhi constituency. Bansuri, who is making her electoral debut, is the daughter of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Urging people to wait for the counting to happen, he wrote, "Fear of Mr Modi does not allow exit polls to show him loose (sic). Hence we all need to wait for actual results scheduled to be delivered on June 4th. People have voted very heavily against @BJP4India."

NDTV's Poll of Polls, an aggregate of exit polls, projects the NDA winning 365 seats, up from 352 in 2019, while the INDIA alliance is predicted to secure only 146 seats.

News Nation predicts the NDA will win in 342-378 constituencies and the INDIA alliance in 153-169.

Jan Ki Baat forecasts 362-392 seats for the ruling coalition and 141-161 for the challenger. Republic TV - P MARQ gives the NDA 358 seats and the INDIA alliance 154.

The BJP claims these exit polls validate its stance that it will win easily and that the public wants PM Modi to secure a third consecutive term. However, many opposition leaders, including Somnath Bharti, believe the exit polls will be proven wrong.

Speaking to NDTV, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi stated that the INDIA alliance's analysis predicts it will win 295 seats, 23 more than the majority mark of 272.
