With 122 new COVID-19 positive cases Assam tally rises to 514

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam on Monday registered 122 new positive cases for COVID-19 and it is the biggest single-day spike in the number of infections in the state so far.
 

With the new cases, the state tally has now increased to 514.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, out of the new cases, 53 positive cases have been detected from Golaghat district, while 21 from Karimganj, eight from Lakhimpur, eight from Guwahati quarantine centre, six from Kokrajhar, four each from Hailakandi, Dhemaji, three from South Salmara, two each from Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Nalbari and one each from Jorhat, Nagaon, Morigaon and Goalpara district.

He tweeted – “48 new cases of #COVID19+. 16 Karimganj, 8 Lakhimpur, 8 Ghy Qrnt, 5 Cachar, 4 Hailakandi, 3 South Salmara, 2 Nalbari, 1 each Morigaon / Goalpara. Total cases 514.”

Earlier, on May 23, Assam registered 87 positive cases for the new virus.

On the other hand, five COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

With this, 62 COVID-19 patients have discharged from hospitals in the state so far.
