Within hours of BJP criticism, 'National Herald' withdraws article on Supreme Court verdict
New Delhi/UNI: Shortly after BJP slammed the Congress party for an article that was carried in 'National Herald' that had hit out at the Supreme Court for the Ayodhya verdict, the publication on Sunday evening withdrew the article from the website and tendered an apology.
"We apologise if the article ‘Why a devout Hindu...’ hurt anyone or any group’s sentiments. The views expressed in the article are author’s personal views and do not reflect those of 'National Herald'," said a tweet from the 'National Herald'.
Some political observers see the 'decision' of the 'National Herald' editorial team to withdraw the article is perhaps also linked to Maharashtra politics.
There is speculation that perhaps Congress may agree for some kind of an alliance with Shiv Sena, which has always been a strong proponent of pro-Hindutva politics.
Earlier in the day, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said it is sad that a parallelism has been drawn between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the highest court in India.
The article was titled - 'Why the Ayodhya verdict reminds us of the Supreme Court of Pakistan'.
"Such article is condemnable.....," the BJP spokesman wondered.
"There is no judicial system in the whole world as transparent and as democratic as the judicial system of India," Patra said.
