Yoga-guru Ramdev gets 'Z' category security

| | Nov 17, 2014, at 11:40 pm
New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS): Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has been provided Z-category security cover by the Union Home Ministry on Monday, media reported.

This means that Ramdev is entitled to be covered by 22 armed guards and also be getting an escort car.

In first week of November, Yoga guru Ramdev had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.

Ramdev was accompanied by his close aide Acharya Balkrishna.

Though there was no official word on what transpired in the meeting but Ramdev told reporters later that "issues of national importance" were discussed.

Ramdev had campaigned extensively for Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the national election but surprisingly the yoga guru had skipped the Primie Minister’s swearing-in ceremony on May 26.

In August 2012, he had been arrested by the police in Delhi while protesting against corruption and the then government headed by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Several former UPA ministers were stripped of their Z-category security.
