Lucknow/IBNS: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati have hit out at Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over the deaths of 100 infants at a hospital in Rajasthan's Kota.

Slamming the Congress top brass, Adityanath tweeted, "The death of around 100 innocent people in Kota is very sad and heart-wrenching..... It is upsetting that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could not understand the grief of mothers despite being women."

"The apathy, insensitivity and irresponsible attitude of the Congress government in Rajasthan, its Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and keeping silence in this matter is sad," added the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.

In more strong words against Priyanka who is actively taking on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath said, "Instead of doing political gimmick, if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had met those mothers whose laps went empty, the bereaved families would have got solace. She is not worried about anyone but only interested in playing politics."

At least nine infants died on the last two days of 2019 a state-run hospital in Kota.

Questions are now being raised whether the deaths are caused do to the negligence of the hospital staff.

Targeting Priyanka, Mayawati, said, "If the Congress general secretary does not meet the mothers of the deceased children going to Kota, then her meeting with the families of the victims in Uttar Pradesh will only be considered as their political interests and blatant drama. In that case, the people of Uttar Pradesh will have to remain alert."

"It is even more sad that the top leadership of the Congress party and especially the women general secretary kept silent in this matter..." added the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan assured Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot support from his side and said a high-level team has been dispatched by the Ministry of Health.

"I have just spoken to #Rajasthan CM Sh @ashokgehlot51ji & assured him of all possible support to prevent further deaths in #KotaTragedy matter. A multi-disciplinary expert team of incl top paediatricians is being sent by @MoHFW_INDIA for gap analysis & quick measures to be taken," said the Health Minister.

"The high-level team being despatched by @MoHFW_INDIA incl experts from AIIMS Jodhpur, Health Finance & Regional Director,Health Services Jaipur. It will reach #Kota tomorrow. In my letter too to @ashokgehlot51 ji, I’ve offered all possible assistance to prevent any further deaths," he added.
