Yogi Adityanath prepares action plan against third wave, black fungus in UP
Lucknow/UNI: Emphasising the need for adequate medical and health care facilities to tackle the situation arising due to black fungus and a possible third wave, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the officials to prepare post-COVID wards and PICU wards along with training to paediatricians, technicians and paramedical staff of all district hospitals.
The CM, during his routine meeting with Team- 9 members here on Tuesday, further emphasized other critical issues, including amongst others, provision of adequate medication for black fungus treatment and setting up of oxygen plants in private medical colleges.
In a step to ensure proper post-covid treatment, CM Yogi asked the Health Department that 'Post-Covid Ward' should be prepared in all dedicated COVID Hospitals.
Post-Covid patients must be assigned a bed with requisite oxygen availability in an L-1 hospital. Along with proper medical care, arrangements should also be made for food to reach such patients, Yodi directed.
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided in a recent cabinet meeting that the treatment of Post-Covid patients will be free in the state.
The CM has said that the Covid patients who got negative but still need post-covid handling, should be provided with the same medical care as is being rendered to COVID patients in all government hospitals.
Focusing on the treatment of the black fungus infection, CM Yogi directed the officials that the life-saving drugs for the treatment of black fungus should be available in adequate quantity in all the districts of the state.
Pointing out black fungus that has emerged as a “new challenge", Yogi instructed, “a letter should be sent to the Government of India requesting to increase the allocation of the medicines used in treatment of this disease. The total population of the state and the number of patients should be kept in view while sending the requisition letter, he further added.
Regarding the preparedness to tackle the possible third COVID wave, which the experts fears will affect children more, Yogi ordered, “a 100-bed Paediatric ICU (PICU) ward should be prepared in all medical colleges. At least one PICU should be established in all the 75 districts of the state in the next 15 days”.
In view of the convenience of women and children, the UP CM has asked to prepare Lokbandhu Hospital of Lucknow as a Mother and Child Covid Care Center.
Aiming to protect children from the COVID-19 infection, on the instructions of Yogi Adityanath, pediatric beds with all the resources will start working as 'Raksha Kavach' in hospitals of every district of the state.
Taking cognizance of the preparations for setting up an oxygen plant in the state, the Chief Minister said that a government order has been issued regarding the setting up of oxygen plants in private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Interested institutions will be given all necessary incentives from the government.
In order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen, CM Yogi directed the officials that the functioning of the oxygen plant being set up through PM Cares, State Government and CSR should be started as soon as possible. It should be reviewed daily from the level of Chief Secretary.
