You just feel like a blackmail weapon using which I will be extorted more: Atul Subhash leaves letter for son
Bengaluru/IBNS: Atul Subhash, the 34-year-old Bengaluru techie who committed suicide on Monday, left a letter for his 4-year-old son who lives with his estranged wife Nikita Singhania.
Hoping that his son becomes "wise enough to understand it someday", Atul wrote some advice for the little one.
"Son - when I first saw you, I thought that I could give my life for you anyday. But, sadly, I am giving my life because of you. I don't even remember your face now till I see pictures of you when you were 1 year old. I don't feel anything about you now except a tinge of pain sometimes.
"Now, You just feel like a blackmail using which I will be extorted more and more. Though it would hurt you, the truth is that now you feel like a mistake I made," Atul wrote in the letter as a part of the 24-page suicide note describing how his wife and her family allegedly used his son to extort money from him.
In a suicide video, the victim Atul Subhash, who is originally from Uttar Pradesh, alleged that he and his family were slapped with charges of murder, dowry harassment, and unnatural sex by his wife Nikita Singhania to extort money. However, Nikita later withdrew the case.
Atul was found hanging at his home on Monday with a 24-page suicide note in which he also criticised the judicial system.

- His wife, driven by greed, was already receiving ₹40,000 every month as maintenance, despite working at Accenture and earning her own money.
- Yet, she demanded ₹2-4 lakhs more.

In the suicide note, Atul alleged his wife was getting Rs. 40,000 per month for maintenance despite having a job at Accenture and even asked for Rs. 2-4 lakh more.
"It is just sad that this shameless system can make a child a burden and liability to his father. I have met a lot of alienated fathers, most of them speak of similar feelings when they are being honest," he wrote.
Atul wrote that his wife has not let him meet his son since they were separated in 2021. His brother Bikas Kumar has said in his abetment to suicide FIR that Nikita had demanded Rs. 30 lakh from Atul to let him meet their son.
"Till I am alive and make money, they will use you as a tool to harass your grandparents, uncle and me to extort more and more money from me. I can't let all this harass my father, mother and brother unnecessarily. Not even for you. I can sacrifice 100 sons like you for my father. I can sacrifice 1,000 of me for you. But I will not be the reason for the harassment of my father," Atul wrote to his son.
"I often laugh when I remember that I started saving money (inflation-adjusted) for a car when you go to college. Silly me," he wrote.
He wrote that he doubts his son will ever understand what a father is.
"But I know exactly what a father is. He is a privilege to have. He is my ultimate pride... A father-son relationship can't be written and even probably understood. But it is pointless to explain now. You will not know me. I wish I could have been with you," Atul wrote.
In an advice to his son, he wrote: "You don't owe anything to anyone. Don't trust society. Don't trust the system. Both - society and system wants to feed off of you. If my blood wins in you, you shall live, love and fight with all your heart and craft beautiful things and destroy problems with your mind."
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania, and uncle Sushil Singhania.
The FIR has been filed under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
As per the FIR, false cases were filed against Atul by the accused who demanded Rs. 3 crore to settle the matter.
It also stated the accused had asked for Rs. 30 lakh from Atul to allow him to see their child.
Atul and Nikita, who got married in 2019, were separated in 2021.
