Kolkata/IBNS: Filmmaker duo Nandita Roy-Shiboprosad Mukherjee's Bengali film Raktabeej, which was released in October last year, has completed 100 days in the box office.

The entire team of the film including lead actors Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty celebrated the 100-day run in the box office recently.

Speaking at the celebration, Abir says, "Completion of 100 days for a film in the current scenario, where people have a new habit of watching cinema, is beyond our expectations. So we feel great but it’s also a pleasant surprise for us."

Mimi, who was overjoyed at the film's stupendous run, shares, "100 days! I can’t even remember when was the last time we had a film running for 100 days. I would like to thank the audience. We exist because of the audience."

Co-starring veteran actor Victor Banerjee and Anashua Majumdar in the lead, the film is inspired by the Burdwan blast in 2014, which shook up Bengal and also the nation, the film is about the homecoming of a man, who holds an important portfolio, and how an accidental blast in a firecracker unit unveils a bigger threat to his life.

On October 2, 2014, which coincided with Mahashtami that year, an explosion took place in a two-storeyed building in the Khagragarh locality of Burdwan. Locals informed the police, who sprang into immediate action.

When the police arrived, two women inside the building stopped them from entering, threatening to blow up the building and destroy several documents and evidence. They were arrested and the police recovered more than 50 improvised explosive devices in that house.

After its run in the box office for more than three months, the makers have also announced Raktabeej will premiere on television in February. It will premiere on Star Jalsa at 1 pm on February 18.
