Actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay tests COVID-19 positive

Kolkata: Bengali movie actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay on Wednesday confirmed he has tested COVID-19 positive.

"Had mild symptoms in Mumbai on the 27th, but had tested negative. Returned to kolkata on the 30th. Became completely symptom-free by 2nd, but got a routine test done anyway day before, results came now and it’s positive. Will test again in three days," he tweeted.

"Will keep all updated, till then request all who’ve come in contact with me in the past few days, to get themselves tested. #COVID19," the actor said.

The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced its decision of temporarily postponing the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival.

The festival was scheduled to start from Jan 7.

"After assessing  the present covid situation of the State  and taking into consideration the possibility of further contamination of covid among the cine lovers and citizens and also owing to the fact that a number of cine personalities attached to film festival committee and many others have been affected by Covid,  State Government,  upon careful consideration to the safety of the citizens have decided to temporarily postpone the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival scheduled to be held between 7-14 January, 2022," read an official statement.

"Next date of the Festival will be communicated in due course," the statement further said.

West Bengal is witnessing a significant rise in daily COVID count for the past several weeks.
