After Chander Pahar, now comes Amazon Obhijan in Bengali with Dev in lead role

Kolkata, May 3 (IBNS) Blockbuster 'Chander Pahar', based on Bengali classic writer Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay's best-seller children's adventure novel, will now have a sequel, estimated to be the most expensive film ever made in Bengali, where the protagonist-adventurer Shankar, a.k.a Dev, will traverse through the vast Amazon forest, the land inhabited by anacondas and jaguars.

With Walt Disney's 'The Jungle Book' now captivating audiences all over the globe, 'Amazon Obhijan' (Adventure to Amazon) will have its own share of thrills to be shot in real life locations when released..

"It is going to be the most expensive Bengali film planned till date with the primitive tribes, jaguars and anancondas popping up during Shankar's trail to the pot of gold - the mythical El Doardo," one of the producers of Shri Venkatesh Films said.

The film will be shot extensively across picturesque  locations of Brazil, including underwater.

"We will shoot underwater in two rivers, Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. And this will eclipse Chander Pahar in terms of visual delight," director Kamaleswar Mukherjee smiled.

The project was announced at its muhurat in city on April 28,, as the 100th production by SVF.

"We settled for Dev and none else as it had been decided Dev will be our Shankar again. His face, smile and athleticism make him the serious contender for the role," Kamaleswar said.

Dev added, "I am happy to be accepted by audiences as Shankar in Chader Pahar. I know I will pass the test this time as well. Can't wait to do action sequence shoots in Brazil."
