'Anti-scientific' hurdle for 2.0
Mumbai, Nov 27 (IBNS): Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) on Tuesday filed a complaint against the makers of Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 for promoting "obscurantist and anti-scientific attitudes toward mobile phone, towers and mobile services."
The film is scheduled to release on Nov 29.
Akshay Kumar plays an ornithologist in the film who blames radiation from mobile phone for harming animals and birds.
In the complaint, the COAI has requested the Censor board to "revoke" the "certification already granted including for the teaser, trailer and other promotional video and Tamil language version of the film with immediate effect". They also want "exhibition of the movie be suspended until the determination of the instant complaint."
The COAI has alleged that the filmmakers have incorrectly depicted mobile phones and towers as harmful to humans and other living beings.
With a reported budget of Rs543 crore, 2.0 is the costliest Indian film till date. It is the sequel to the 2010 Enthiran, which also starred Rajinikanth.
