'Audience response to Kill is exhilarating', says Karan Johar as he wows Toronto to promote Kill after TIFF premiere

Toronto/IBNS: Guess where you can spot a candid, animated Karan Johar these days? The answer is Toronto.

Well, look for him around the screening venues of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and and you might catch him off guard speaking exuberantly about not just "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani", but Kill, a film he co-produced.

IBNS spotted the Bollywood showman in one of the venues as he promotes Kill at TIFF, a magnet for Bollywood royalty over the years.

The Toronto International Film Festival witnessed the world premiere of Kill, a joint venture between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga as the respective producers.

Guneet Monga Kapoor, the producer of "The Elephant Whisperers", has won an Academy Award.

Kill is an action thriller directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt starring Lakshya in his debut role, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala. The film has received some rave reviews from international publications.

'Kill' sparks a change of direction for Johar’s Dharma Prods., which is known for successful romances or family melodramas.

Talking on Instagram, KJo wrote, "Tonight at midnight in Toronto was madness and special!!!! Crazy and manic audience responses were so heartening and exhilarating to experience!!! This non-stop actioner on a moving train is a BLOODathon on steroids!!"

“The concept of this adrenaline-rushing, extremely violent, non-stop genre film based on a moving train, to maintain an action for one hour, 40 minutes-plus and do that with an emotional energy, I thought would be a challenge for everyone,” Johar told Variety.

“We really want this film to connect with its core audience, for us to build a franchise together. I can see a ‘Kill 2’ already coming our way."

"It’s putting the lead protagonist in these dire circumstances and always maintaining the genre aspect of the film - never going into another zone. That’s what will be supremely exciting about this kind of franchise," KJo further stated.
