Box-office reports: Kingsman starts strong, Newton picks up Rs 96 lakhs

Mumbai, Sep 23 (IBNS): India's official entry for the upcoming Academy Awards, Newton, has managed to rake up Rs 96 lakhs on Friday.

Directed by Amit Masurkar, Newton stars Rajkummar Rao as the titular character, alongside Anjali Patil, Pankaj Tripathi and Raghubir Yadav.

The movie has received positive reviews from critics and audience alike.

Meanwhile, Hollywood movie Kingsman The Golden Circle, the sequel to Kingsman The Secret Service, has started off strongly at the domestic box-office.

The movie has grossed Rs. 3.15 cr. so far, through previews and Friday collection.

Taron Egerton, reprises his role as Eggsy in Kingsman The Golden Circle alongside Channing Tatum, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth.

The other Bollywood movie to release on Friday, Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi hasn't received favourable comments from the critics, but has collected Rs 2.25 crore in the domestic box-office.

Bhoomi is Dutt's first release following the completion of his tenure in jail.
