Desi girl Priyanka Chopra turns 36
Los Angeles, July 18 (IBNS): Actress-producer Priyanka Chopra, who is popularly referred to as Desi girl for her role in Bollywood film Dostana, turned 36 on Wednesday.
Born in Jamshedpur, Bihar (now in Jharkhand), Priyanka came to light by winning Miss World pageant in 2000.
With no film background, Priyanka started her acting career in 2003 with The Hero: The Love Story of a Spy.
She caught the limelight with films like Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Aitraaz.
In 2006, Priyanka took part in two commercially successful films Krrish and Don.
Her acting skill was highly praised in 2008 film Fashion, which earned her the National Award for Best Film Actress.
Priyanka's hold in the Hindi film industry became strong with films Kaminey and 7 Khoon Maaf, which released in the successive years.
The 36-year old actress' recognition grew wider by working in Barfi, Mary Kom and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani.
A major turning point in her career came in 2015 when Priyanka gained international fame by playing the role of Alex Parrish in American television series Quantico.
She went on to do three seasons of Quantico.
Priyanka made her Hollywood debut with Baywatch in 2017.
Apart from acting, Priyanka owns production house Purple Pebble Pictures.
Not only acting or producing, the former Miss World has mastered the skills of singing as well. She sung a popular song I Can't Make You Love Me and also been a part of music video Exotic with American rapper Pitbul.
Of late, Priyanka has been in the news for her rumoured relationship with American singer Nick Jonas.
The two were spotted on various occasions and also dining at a restaurant in Mumbai.
