Kolkata, Apr 17 (IBNS)Actress Roopa Ganguly, debutant actor Rajeev Pillai and director Kiran Phadnis attended the premiere of their film 'Ek Adbhut Dakshina..Guru Dakshina' at a theatre in Kolkata.

The film, produced by Aayush Phadnis and Eshaan Phadnis under their banner Moonwalk Production will release on Apr 17.

It also stars Sulagna Panigrahi, Rajesh Sringarpure and Girish Karnad in pivotal roles among several others.

The director told IBNS: “The film has a very interesting plot. It deals with an orphan boy, who loses his mother at a very early age and is forced to live in a correctional home amidst brutal torture. He is however rescued by a man, his Guru, who takes him away to his home. While growing up he falls in love with his Guru’s daughter and there is an array of very interesting consequences he faces as a result.”

When asked about his experience while shooting for this film, Pillai told IBNS: “I am basically working in the South (of India). This is my first Bollywood movie. (This is) the first time I saw a director who is imbibed by the characters of the film. She was lovely to work with, gave us full freedom to express ourselves. I play an introvert in the film; my character had to go through a lot of torture and abuse and had an intense past. He posed as an uber-confident man even though deep inside he wasn’t.”

Pillai also spoke about his love for Kolkata, he said: “I had to spend two months here (in Kolkata) for the workshop. It is a nice place, everything around here is very pleasant and you have nice, hospitable people.”
