I love to direct non-fictions : Raj Chakroborty

Kolkata, May 30 (IBNS) Back to the small screen after wrapping up his last flick with an ensemble cast in the hilly terrains, popular director Raj Chakrabarty has roped in four Tolly heavyweights in different roles for a "never before" laughter show to zero in on Bengal's funniest Jodi.

“Shooting for films was a different ball game. But it is a different format. A comedy riot [titled I Laugh You] with a different flavor. And another highlight is it has personalities like Chiranjeet Chakroborty, Apuda (Saswata Chatterjee who shot into national fame playing the scary Bob Biswas in Kahaani), Indrani Halder as judges. This is a challenge for me to properly use them in a non-fiction show,” Raj said on the sets of the show here.

“From films which make me feel connected with the audience to these reality shows to tickle the funny bones of the TV viewing Bengalis, I like doing both, but obviously I love to direct non-fictions and look at it as a challenge,” Raj said.

“There will be twists and that will make it more natural,” Raj said.

Chiranjit, who was seen enjoying the shooting of one episode hosted by Rudraneil Ghosh and Kanchan Mullick, said, “The energy level and the spontaneity of the participant ‘jodi’ and the repartees are the things to be cherished the most in a show bringing up Bengali’s wit at its best.

“Raj has made the third season of I Laugh U quirky. I like every bit of it,” the Chotuskone actor said.

“Enjoying every bit of it. This is my first role as judge in such reality show,” national awarding winning Dahan actor Indrani Haldar said.

In his trademark deadpan style, Saswata said, “more to watch and less to judge.”

Friend-actor Rudranil Ghosh, who had shared room with Raj in the initial days of their career in the industry, and stand alone comedian Kanchan Mullick will host the show on Star Jalsha channel to be aired soon and mentor participants.

Six top performing teams will battle it out in the grand finale for the position of Bengal’s funniest Jodi.
