India's Ricky Kej, Neela Vaswani in Grammy winners list

Los Angeles, Feb 9 (IBNS): In a proud moment for India, Bengaluru-based musician Ricky Kej and author of Indian-origin Neela Vaswani featured in the achiever list of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, on Sunday.
Ricky's album "Winds Of Samsara" won the' Best New Age Album' award at the event. The album was produced in collaboration with South African musician Wouter Kellerman.
 
Kej, who is a wizard of the keyboard, manuscript page, and recording studio, has earlier earned multiple awards and honours for his composition and production exploits. 
 
His projects include creating music for five feature films, twelve albums released by Universal Music, and over two thousand commercials seen by audiences around the world. 
 
A student of both Western and Indian classical music, Kej composed original works for the opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup 2012, held in Dhaka.
 
Following the success of this, Kej was declared an “India Rules Artist” by VH1 in 2013.
 
Neela Vaswani grabbed the Grammy in' Best Children's Album' ctegory for "I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up For Education And Changed The World (Malala Yousafzai)."
 
In 2014, the album "Winds of Sansara" made it to #1 on the US Billboard New Age Albums Chart making Ricky the first music composer of Indian-origin to have topped the chart.
 
Ricky has composed internationally for various advertisements in television, sporting events and Kannada-movies.
 
The other Indian Grammy recipient, Neela Vaswani, is author of the short story collection 'Where the Long Grass Bends', and a memoir, 'You Have Given Me a Country'. 
 
She has bagged the American Book Award, an O. Henry Prize, the ForeWord Book of the Year gold medal, the Nautilus Book Award gold medal, an Audie Award, and many other honors.  
 
She is also co-author the Middle Grade novel-in-letters, 'Same Sun Here'.  Her fiction and nonfiction have been widely anthologized and published in journals such as 'Epoch', 'Shenandoah', and 'Prairie Schooner'.
 
She is currently based in New York city. 
 
'I Am Malala', the book by Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, was narrated by Neela in the audio version of the book, which went on to fetch her the prestigious Grammy.
