Indrani Halder happy with the popularity of Goenda Ginni, says a sleuth can't be defined by gender

Kolkata, May 17 (IBNS) Happy with the TRP rating of Goenda Ginni, which has created history in the genre of Bengali thriller-telly soap, seasoned actor Indrani Halder says she is happy with the way the serial has been accepted by all, including the school going children.

"I had the chance to visit an ABACUS competition at a leading city school recently. And there the children told me how much they liked my character," Indrani tells IBNS at an outlet of ethnic wear and accessories here.

The 'Jara Bristite Bhijechhilo' (director Anjan Das) actor, who had also turned up in films by Rituparno Ghosh among others and won National Award early in her career, says she does not favour segmenting between male and female sleuths in a crime thriller when asked if Goenda Ginni (The Sleuth who is also a housewife) is the first of its kind work themed on a lady detective in Bengali serial as well as possibly in Hindi.

"I do not know. But there is no such thing as male and female in a detective story," she smiles.

Indrani, who was draped in a silk-cotton mix chanderi, was talking on the sidelines after inaugurating Debonair Fashion,  the house of costume jewellery, designer sarees & ethnic wear.

"I am happy with the way the small screen senario is evolving with lots of varied contents even coming into family dramas," Indrani, also a known face in Mumbai for Hindi serials, says.

The versatile actor, who finds no qualm in divding time between small and big screen, is keen about her next Bengali feature film Baromaser Galpo, a string of 11 short stories, where she plays the lead in one.

Percussionist Bickram Ghosh, his actor-wife Jaya Seal Ghosh, national award winner actor Ananya Chatterjee and Pallabi Chatterjee were among others who graced the opening of Debonair Fashion on the occasion of“Akshaya Tritiya”.
