Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who has been summoned by the Mumbai Police in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, will not be able to physically turn up at the police station to record her statement.

She can record her statement via electronic media, her lawyer told NDTV channel on Friday.

The actor is presently at her home in Manali and cannot travel to Mumbai to record statement in the case at Bandra Police Station.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on June 14.

The police had called it a suicide but Kangana was one among those who suspected foul play into his death since the news came to light.

A day after his untimely demise, Kangana released a video where she alleged that Sushant took the drastic step being a victim of nepotism and favouritism prevailing in the Bollywood film industry.

She had named several B-Town biggies including filmmaker Karan Johar and actress Alia Bhatt for indulging in favouritism and driving Sushant to end his life.

The police have recorded the statements of at least 35 people in the case, including his friend Rhea Chakraborty, directors Aaditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shekhar Kapur and film critic Rajeev Masand among others.

Police also summoned the actor's psychiatrist, Dr Kersi Chavda, to know about his medical history as he was reportedly suffering from depression.

Sushant made his debut in the Bollywood with the 2013 film 'Kai Po Che' and then went on to appear in several successful movies including 'PK', 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', 'Kedarnath', 'Sonchiriya' and 'Chhichhore.'

His last film 'Dil Bechara' released digitally on Friday evening and is currently streaming on Over-the-top (OTT) platform Disney+ Hotstar.
