Kesari 2: Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday thank PM Modi for remembering C Sankaran Nair's contribution
Mumbai/IBNS: Ahead of the release of their film Kesari 2, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday, along with producer Karan Johar, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remembering the historical courtroom drama's protagonist, lawyer and statesman C Sankaran Nair, who fought against the British to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
In a recent address, PM Modi highlighted Nair's fight against the British Raj after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre where unarmed civilians were fired on by British troops in Punjab's Amritsar in 1919.
Modi had said, "Sankaran Nair-ji was serving a top post in the British government at that time. He could have had all the happiness and luxury being in the government but he started fighting against the cruelty of the British regime upon being pained by the Jallianwala Bagh incident. He was removed from the post."
"Though the incident had happened in Punjab while he was from Kerala, Nair-ji decided to fight the Jallianwala Bagh case by himself. He fought by himself and shook the foundation of the British empire and brought it to the court of law."
As Kesari Chapter 2 sparks national conversation, PM Narendra Modi ji honors the legacy of C. Sankaran Nai.

KJo blasts General Dyer's granddaughter
Karan Johar meanwhile slammed General Dyer’s great-granddaughter Caroline Dyer who recently called the victims of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre as ‘looters’.
Reacting to the remark, Karan Johar said, “I have seen that video, and not just as an Indian or humanitarian, but as anyone who has an iota of empathy, it will anger you. How ridiculous was she to say that, and how dare she?"
"She was calling those thousands of people looters, they were innocent people who collected on the auspicious day of Baisakhi, thinking something else was going to be the eventuality of the day. By his own admission, General Dyer said that he only stopped shooting when the bullets ran out.”
“She went on in an interview to say that he loved India, and all kinds of things that he had the greatest compassion. What love can you have, when your actions only spoke of hate. She is living in a lala land of her own and in some delusion. I don’t know her, haven’t met her, and don’t wish to. The fact that she even said those things boiled my blood, she had such disdain for the biggest genocide in the history of our nation, that it made me demand an apology even more,” Karan said.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari 2 features Akshay as advocate C. Sankaran Nair, R. Madhavan as advocate Neville McKinley and Ananya as Dilreet Gill.
The film will hit the theatres on April 18.
