Kolkata: Nandan says no to Cosmic Sex projection

Kolkata, Jun 24 (IBNS): Few days after the Udta Punjab controversy came to end, Kolkata's popular movie theatre Nandan on Thursday night dismissed the projection of Bengali movie Cosmic Sex, a day before its first show.

According to Cosmic Sex movie's director Amitabha Chakraborty, an official of West Bengal government-sponsored film and cultural centre Nandan called him on Thursday night and said that they would not run Cosmic Sex, which was issued 'A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), in the hall.

Film's director Amitabha Chakraborty told IBNS, "The movie was scheduled to be shown in Nandan from today. I received a phone call from Nandan authority yesterday night. He told me that Cosmic Sex was not appropriate for Nandan and the film could not be projected there. After hearing this, I was shocked. This incident is very unfortunate."

"Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) issued 'A' certificate to my movie. I will ask other theatres if it's possible to run the movie there," Chakraborty further said.

Meanwhile, one member of Nandan Screening Committee told IBNS, "Cosmic Sex contains frontal nudity and the movie does not match with the mentalities of Nandan's audiences. So we have decided not to show the movie here."
