Mumbai, Sept 8 (IBNS): Amid death hoax, actress Sonali Bendre's husband Goldie Behl appealed people not believe in rumours.

Sonali, who is undergoing treatment for cancer in New York, became a victim of death hoax on Friday.

Maharashtra BJP lawmaker Ram Kadam posted a condolence message on his Twitter page and later deleted it.

Behl on Saturday tweeted: "I appeal to all to please use social media more responsibly. Let us not believe in rumours and spread them, unnecessarily hurting the sentiments of those involved. Thank you."

Kadam on Friday rectified the error he had committed and posted: "About Sonali Bendre ji It was rumour . Since last two days .. I pray to God for her good health & speedy recovery."

In July, Sonali took to Twitter to announce that she has been diagnosed with “high-grade cancer”.

According to her statement, she is undergoing treatment in New York.

Known for her soothing beauty, Bendre received critical acclaim for her performances in Diljale in 1996, followed by Bhai (1997), Sarfarosh, Zakhm, Duplicate, Kadhalar Dhinam (Tamil film), Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United (1999), Tera Mera Saath Rahen (2001) and Anahat (2003) among others.
