Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor with the boy-next-door look Sushant Singh Rajput, who had portrayed India's former cricket captain MS Dhoni onscreen, was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on Sunday with initial reports suggesting that he committed suicide.

He was found hanging in his home. He was 34.

Some of his friends were also at home when his body was discovered. The door to his room was broken and he was found hanging, reports India Today.

His friends also told news channel Aaj Tak that the reason behind this extreme step is depression.

However, no suicide note has been recovered so far.

In his last Instagram post, he wrote apparently about his mother: “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops, Unending dreams carving an arc of smile, And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two…#माँ ❤️.”

He had also posted images of Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, both of whom passed away recently, on his Instagram pages with notes or heart signs.

Sushant Sngh Rajput's death occurred just days after his former manager Disha Salian had committed suicide.

The reason behind her death is still unknown.

Speaking to a TV channel after his death, film producer Mukesh Bhatt said when Sushant came to meet him to discuss roles one and a half year ago, he appeared disturbed.

"I saw it coming.  I knew something was amiss," he told Times Now channel.

ABP News reported a team of Bandra Police which  rushed to investigate the matter found anti-depressant pills in Sushant Singh Rajput's house in initial investigation.

Short Yet Sweet Career:

Sushant will be remembered as an actor who delivered both hits and misses in his small but impactful career in Bollywood.

Following the era of Khans and Roshan, Sushant Singh Rajput was slowly rising up the altar apparently.

His chiselled body and boy-next-door look earned him a good fan following among the young.

He was last seen in the movie Chhichhore, a comedy drama also starring Shraddha Kapoor. The film was also a Box Office hit.

Like Shah Rukh Khan and many Bollywood stars, Sushant Singh Rajput had started his career in the small screen and then made his debut in B-town films.

Rajput started his career with television serials. His debut show was Star Plus's romantic drama Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008), followed by an award-winning performance in Zee TV's popular soap opera Pavitra Rishta (2009–11).

Sushant Singh Rajput made his film debut in the buddy drama Kai Po Che! (2013), for which he received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

He then starred in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and as the titular detective in the action thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015).

His highest-grossing releases came with a supporting role in the Aamir Khan film PK (2014), followed by the titular role in the sports biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016).

For his performance in the latter, he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

In recent years, Rajput starred in  films like Kedarnath (2018) and Chhichhore (2019). Kedarnath also marked the Bollywood debut of Sara Ali Khan and the movie saw both Sushant and the new lady in the town competing hard to win the hearts of their fans.

In his career, Sushant may be best remembered for playing the onscreen avatar of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni in the biography made after him.

The film chronicled the life of Dhoni from a young age through a series of life events.

Sushant earned appreciation for imitating Dhoni's mannerisms onscreen.

India mourns:

Indian celebrities and political class remembered Sushant and mourned his deaths by posting messages on social media.

Sushant's fans were left surprised as the news of his death went viral online.

A pall of gloom descended amid his fans as they condoled the death of the young talent.

Indian PM Narendra Modi tweeted: "Sushant Singh Rajput...a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's Office tweeted: " Shocked & saddened to hear about the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. May God give strength to his family, fans & loved ones."

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri remarked: " Shocked & deeply saddened to hear about the suicide of talented & brilliant actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This unfortunate death of a young & successful individual brings issues related to mental health, particularly in these times, to the fore. RIP."

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh also posted his condolence message on Twitter on the death of the youthful actor: " Sad to hear about the sudden demise of #SushantSinghRajput. An exemplary actor who will be missed by all. Praying for strength to his family and friends in this difficult time. "

Actress Disha Patani who was seen in the movie  MS Dhoni: The Untold Story  opposite Sushant, posted on Instagram: " Sushant bhai kyunnnnnnnnnnnn."
