Security has enhanced on film sets after #MeToo: Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 4, which was hit by the #MeToo campaign more than a year ago, was busy promoting his film these days. IBNS-TWF brings excerpts from Akshay's comments on the film as well as the #MeToo impact
Tell us about your relationship with filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala.
We have a very old relationship. We used to go to school together. We have together worked in around a dozen films. I can say I earn because of him (smiles).
It has been a year since #MeToo had hit Housefull 4. What changes have you seen in the industry?
A lot of changes have come. Nowadays sexual harassment officers are there in every film who looks after the complaints. They know what is happening. So there has been a lot of security now. We don't want any kind of misbehaviour happening on the sets, so a lot of changes have come.
Sajid Nadiadwala has directed 60 per cent of the film. Then why is he not taking the credit along with Farhad Samji as the director?
It is right 60 per cent of the film has been directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. But I tell you that this call has been taken by the studio.
The casting has changed in every sequel of Housefull 4 franchise. How much do you miss your former co-actors?
See they will always remain with me. We will keep remembering them. Me and Nadiadwala were thinking to make a Housefull where the actors of all the sequels will be present. That would be our comedy avengers.
What is the secret behind your back to back successes?
I don't know how many people would agree with me. I believe 70 per cent of a success comes from luck and remaining 30 per cent from hard work. So I think 70 per cent of my successes occurred due to luck.
