Shabana Azmi gets the Gully Boy fever and does a Ranveer Singh at Mumbai event

Mumbai, Mar 11 (IBNS): Veteran actor Shabana Azmi, who is also known for her staunch support for woman empowerment, thrilled the participants with her Gully Boy moment at the International Women's Day event organised by Mukka Maar and Spartan Poker, in Mumbai.

She also applauded the kids and their mothers, for their passion, dedication and confidence resulting from their training in martial arts offered by Mukka Maar and supported by Spartan Poker.

The children demonstrated their skills in martial arts and other areas through martial arts presentations, poetry recital, art competitions, story telling, a short skit on the girl child, etc.

Doing a Ranveer Singh during her interaction with the kids, the actor said, “They say these days that ‘Apna time aayega’ right? I say that ‘Apna time aa gaya!’ and as a woman I believe it! It is wonderful to see so many young girls with the amount of confidence that they have now thanks to Mukka Maar, because of the martial arts training they have received. It is necessary for women to feel safe and secure even on their own, and the most worrisome threat is a physical one; Mukka Maar is addressing this by training them in self-defence via martial arts. I am in awe of these wonderful and confident kids. I hope that this initiative continues to grow!”

Sharing the stage with Shabana Azmi and supporting the cause were Amin Rozani, co-founder and MD of Spartan Poker, as well as prominent television actors, Sharad Kelkar, Mohit Raina, Kritika Kamra, Isha Chopra and ex-National Football Player Abeer Arsiwala, among others.

The winners of the evening were the children from Akurli School who won the title of ‘Best School Performance’ while they also won first prize in the poetry, demonstration and debate competitions.
