'Thank you Messi for...' Shah Rukh Khan after Argentina clinch FIFA World Cup title

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is one of the countless fans of Lionel Messi who rejoiced in the Sunday final after Argentina overwhelmed mighty France to clinch their third football World Cup title.

In a tweet, Shah Rukh "thanked" Messi and also walked down the memory lane to remember how he used to watch world cups with his late mother.

The actor wrote in the micro-blogging site, "We are living in the time of one of the best World Cup Finals ever. I remember watching WC with my mom on a small tv….now the same excitement with my kids!!

"And thank u #Messi for making us all believe in talent, hard work & dreams!!"

After leading the match 2-0 for about 80 minutes, Argentina's seemingly easy win-hope was dashed by Kylian Mbappe, who scored twice, once in a penalty kick and a stunning goal.

Later in the extra minutes, Argentina scored one more to gain back the lead over France but Mbappe hit the nets through a penalty again to equalise the scoreline.

But France looked too fragile in the penalty shootout which was won by Argentina 4-2 to clinch their third title and Messi's first.
