Mumbai/IBNS: Actor-politician Urmila Matondkar on Friday thanked the "real people of India" for supporting her after being called a "soft porn star" by Kangana Ranaut in a television interview.

This comes as Urmila joined the league of actors who lashed out at Kangana for comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and also for taking a dig at veteran actor Jaya Bachchan.

Kangana had also pointed out that there's widespread consumption of illegal drugs in Bollywood besides her nepotism claims, which have left several industry people irked.

Urmila too joined the bandwagon and in an interview to a TV channel had said which "girl from a decent family would use such language."

In response to the same, Kangana in her interview to a separate channel called her a "soft porn star" who was never known for her acting.

Kangana's remarks were met with criticisms from the film fraternity including Ram Gopal Varma, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and actor Swara Bhasker.

They have even hailed Urmila's consistent "grace and dignity" throughout her career of over 25 years.

Support also poured in from actors Pooja Bhatt, Sayani Gupta and screenwriter Kanika Dhillon.

Taking to Twitter Urmila thanked the "real people of India" and "rare breed of dignified media" for standing out for her.

"Thank you the “Real People of India” and a rare breed of unbiased, dignified media for standing by me. It’s Your victory over fake IT trolls n propaganda.
Deeply touched..humbled.#JaiHind," she tweeted.
