Roger Federer beats Frances Tiafoe in US Open 2017

New York, Aug 30 (IBNS): Roger Federer defeated American Frances Tiafoe in the first round of the US Open 2017 here on Tuesday, media reports said.

The Swiss player, Federer, took five sets to defeat Tiafoe.

The five times champion outplayed his opponent 4-6 6-2 6-1 1-6 6-4.

In another match, Rafael Nadal defeated Serbia's Dusan Lajovic 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 6-2.

American 15th seed Madison Keys won over Belgian Elise Mertens 6-3 7-6 (8-6).
