'Sudden' prohibition on using sugarcane juice for ethanol puts Rs 15,000 crore investment at risk, says ISMA

New Delhi: The sudden ban on the use of cane juice for the production of ethanol has put at risk the Rs 15,000 crore investment made by the sugar industry in the last three years, the Indian Sugar Mill Association (ISMA) said, a media report said.

New Delhi/IBNS: According to latest reports, sugar production in India till November 15, 2020, in the current 2019-20 SS is 14.10 lakh tonnes, compared to 4.84 lakh tonnes as of November 15, 2019.  

First advance estimates of sugar production in India for 2020-21 SS released

New Delhi/IBNS: ISMA (Indian Sugar Mills Association), following its recent meeting with representatives of sugar producing states, has released its first advance estimates of sugar production for the 2020-21 SS (sugar season).

Sugar prodcution in India drops as of April this year compared to same period last year

New Delhi/IBNS: Sugar mills across India have produced 247.80 lakh tonnes of sugar as of April 15, 2020, which is nearly  64 lakh tonne less compared to 311.75 lakh tonnes produced at the same time last year, according to a press release by Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), a group consisting of stakeholders of the country's sugar industry.
