New York: As the world on Monday passed yet another sombre pandemic milestone – five million lives lost to COVID-19 – Secretary-General António Guterres called on global leaders to back the UN strategy to make vaccine equity a reality by accelerating efforts and ensuring maximum vigilance to defeat the virus.

Moscow/Sputnik: UK scientists believe that the winter wave of COVID-19 will be more serious than the first and may result in about 120,000 new fatal cases if the authorities fail to take urgent action to avoid the epidemic, media reported on Tuesday, citing a scientific report.
