Cold September leads nomadic Gujjars-Bakkarwals to prepone annual tribal migration

Jammu, Sept 6 (IBNS): The unusual dip in the temperature in the hilly and mountainous tracks of north-western Himalayas has led to lakhs of Gujjars and Bakkarwals - the nomadic tribes of Jammu and Kashmir - to prepone their annual seasonal migration from the hills to the plains areas of the border state of Jammu and Kashmir along with their livestock, much earlier than their routine reverse migration to the plains.
