Guterres pledges UN support to Iraqi Government, people in Mosul; $562M needed in aid

New York, July 10(Just Earth News): Following Iraqi Government’s declaration that its forces have liberated the northern city of Mosul from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) fighters, Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday paid tribute to the country’s people and Government and vowed United Nations’ support to aid the displaced communities and restore rule of law in the freed areas.

New York, Mar 9 (IBNS):A clear message must be sent to all of Iraq’s diverse communities that they have a future in the country, an independent United Nations human rights expert on Tuesday said, calling on the Government to ensure the protection of the most threatened and marginalized ethnic and religious groups.
