Affordable housing key for development and social equality, UN says on World Habitat Day

New York, Oct 2(Just Earth News): As 1.6 billion people on Monday live in inadequate housing, one billion of whom reside in slums and informal settlements, The United Nations is spotlighting affordable home on on Monday's World Habitat Day, which also marks the official start of Urban October – a month of worldwide celebrations and citizens' engagement in urban life worldwide.

New York, Oct 7 (IBNS) Urgent action is needed to refocus urban planning and to provide safe, affordable housing that is appropriate and adequate for our citizens' growing needs, senior United Nations officials said marking World Habitat Day, which is observed annually on the first Monday of October.
