'Violence must stop now,' says UN expert as fresh fighting displaces thousands in North Darfur

New York, Feb 6 (Just Earth News/IBNS) Warning that, in the last two weeks, a new escalation of violence has forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee their homes in the Jebel Marra area of Darfur, a United Nations human rights expert on Friday called for an immediate end to hostilities that have triggered new protection and humanitarian concerns in the long-restive region of Sudan.

New York, Nov 20 (IBNS): Echoing calls from the wider United Nations community, the Security Council Weday expressed concern at allegations over the mass rape in late October of 200 women and girls in Tabit, North Darfur, calling on the Government of Sudan to conduct a thorough investigation.
