7.5 earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

Port Moresby, Apr 19 (IBNS): A strong earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale struck off Papua New Guinea on Saturday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located   6.720   degree south and  154.931 degree east at a depth of   30.9  km, as per the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) website.

The epicentre was located 75 km south-west of Panguna town, the USGS website said.

A 6.6 tremor hit the country earlier in the day.

There were no earlier reports of any casualty or damage to property so far.
