Tehran, May 3 (IBNS): At least 80 people have been injured in an earthquake which struck western Iran on Wednesday morning, reports said.
Local IFP news quoted health officials as saying that 84 people have been taken to the hospital for treatment, one of whom is said to be critical.
The earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, hit Iran’s western city of Sisakht in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province at around 8:30 am.
According to footage aired by state media, the quake destroyed several buildings.
Last year, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit villages and towns in Iran’s western Kermanshah province, killing at least 620 people and injuring thousands.
In 2003, a 6.6 magnitude quake killed over 26,000 people and destroyed the historic city of Bam.
