London, Nov 15 (IBNS): UK Prime Minister Theresa May is facing backlash as Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab on Thursday resigned over the agreement, media reports said.

Raab's resignation came even after May secured her cabinet's support for the deal.

May also faced backlash from Tory Brexiteers and her Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) backers.

The Labour Party is yet to announce their decision over Brexit.

European Council President Donald Tusk has been quoted by BBC as saying, "As much as I am sad to see you leave, I will do everything to make this farewell the least painful possible, for you and for us."

Tusk also said an emergency EU Summit will be held on Nov 25 if nothing extraordinary occurs.

Junior Northern Ireland Minister Shailesh Vara was the first person to resign over the agreement.
