Havana, Mar 18 (Xinhua/UNI) Britain's Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall Camilla kicked off their Caribbean tour on Sunday during which they will become the first British royals to visit Cuba.

The royal couple will spend three days in Cuba starting March 24 to "highlight the growing bilateral relationship" and "showcase some of the cultural ties between the two countries," according to a statement from their official residence Clarence House.

Their itinerary includes a dinner with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who on his first international tour as president last November visited the heir to the British throne during a stopover in London.

They also plan to visit the south coast of Cuba to learn about local flora and fauna, and attend an event on environment and nature conservation, as well as a round table on Cuban policies in support of victims of sexual and domestic abuse.

Charles, who has a reputation for environmental causes, will visit a solar farm being built by a British company and be briefed on what Cuba is doing to tackle climate change.

He is also scheduled to meet with a group of British vintage car owners and visit a music studio.

The royal couple's deputy private secretary, Scott Furssedonn-Wood, said they were "expecting to enjoy all kinds of experiences in Cuba" and "music, dance and food is certainly one of those things."

The royal couple will visit 10 Caribbean islands, including Saint Lucia, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Grenada.
