Brampton, Ontario/IBNS: The shutdown of the Colleges, Universities in Greater Toronto Area due to the COVID-19 pandemic led to lots of uncertainty among international students. Many students lost their daily jobs due to the lockdown situation, as it is well known that many of them meet their daily requirements with temporary part time jobs.

However, support is pouring in for them from Liaison College, Brampton Campus, which took an initiative to provide them daily grocery, so that they have regular food on their platter. This helped the students to remain safe and in sound health.

This helped them to maintain mental peace away from their own family in this unexpected state of affair. The parents of these students were thankful for this cooperation extended by Liaison College during this difficult time.

Liaison College, Brampton Campus faculty and administration felt it was the right thing to do for these students during this time of need, this benefited the students because they have someone to think about them at a time when so many are socially isolated.

Due to Covid19 pandemic and shutting of local business many of these international students are in financial distress and are running out of their resources.

As per the study permit, international students are allowed to work for 20 hrs per week in Ontario, but present unexpected reality is different. There are fear and uncertainty among the students, especially when it came to arranging for daily grocery for themselves.

Some students also developed depression due to social isolation. They never thought of facing such situation when they reached Canada for study purpose away from home.
