Canada PM Justin Trudeau reaches India today
New Delhi, Feb 17 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday reached India on a week-long visit to the Asian country.
He has arrived in Delhi, the national capital of India, on Saturday evening.
After Justin Trudeau reached India with his family, India's High Commissioner to Canada Vikas Swarup tweeted: " A long wait is finally over as Prime Minister of Canada @JustinTrudeau accompanied by Madame Sophie Gregoire Trudeau and their three children arrive in India on a State Visit ."
This is the maiden India visit of Trudeau.
Both Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi share a cordial relationship with each other.
Trudeau will stay in India between February 17 and 23.
He is accompanied by Canadian ministers like Navdeep Bains, Amarjeet Sohi, Bardish Chagger and Kirsty Duncan.
Trudeau's visit to India has a primary aim to develop and strengthen the trade relations between the two nations.
The Canada PM will visit Agra, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and New Delhi during his stay in India.
Trudeau will engage with Indian leaders in talks related to government and business, empowerment of women and girls and economic ties between the two countries.
He will discuss the ways with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create good, middle class jobs for people of both the nations.
Apart from bilateral talks, Trudeau is scheduled to visit prominent Indian places like Taj Mahal in Agra, Golden Temple in Amritsar and Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gujarat.
Last month, both the leaders had met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
