Toronto, Dec 14 (IBNS): In one of the bizarre incidents, a Toronto woman has been charged with an attempt to murder a man and a child, media reports said.

The investigators told CTV News that the violence had occurred in an apartment near Sherway Gardens Road and Evans Road in Etobicoke a day ago.

The police said the clash began between a man and a woman where both were exchanging heated up words.

The woman, who was carrying a knife, allegedly tried to attack the man and a four-month old child.

The man immediately took to his heels along with the child to prevent oneself.

People who reached immediately to the spot found the man and the child to be harmed and injured.

The child was rushed to a hospital. The man, however, received minor injuries.

The accused woman was arrested on spot and she is scheduled to appear in the court on Thursday morning.

Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson told CTV News that the baby was both assaulted and stabbed.

Hopkinson said: "We believed originally that the significant injuries that the baby received were from the stabs, we now know it was not.."

"The other assault that the baby suffered is what caused the injuries that finds the baby in critical condition in hospital," Hopkinson added.
