Donald Trump invites Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington

Washington, July 20 (IBNS): The White House on Friday said US President Donald Trump has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington during autumn this year.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders tweeted: "In Helsinki, @POTUS agreed to ongoing working level dialogue between the two security council staffs. President Trump asked @Ambjohnbolton to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those discussions are already underway."

Trump and Putin met in Helsinki this Monday.

However, few details of the meeting have emerged so far.

Meanwhile, Trump called his meeting with Putin as a 'great success'.

"The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear...proliferation, cyber attacks, trade, Ukraine, Middle East peace, North Korea and more. There are many answers, some easy and some hard, to these problems...but they can ALL be solved!."

Controversies surrounded the meeting over comments made by President Donald Trump over the reported Russian involvement in US Presidential elections.

Trump completely denied any Russian involvement in the US Presidential elections in 2016 as he responded with a big, "No", when commenting on this issue.

However,  White House Press Secretary Sarah later said that Trump had replied, "No" while answering many other questions.

At a news briefing on Wednesday, she said,"  The president and his administration are working very hard to make sure that Russia is unable to meddle in our elections as they have done in the past."

Cecilia Vega of the ABC news asked Trump whether Russia would still target the US elections to which the latter replied, " Thank you very much, no"

Vega further asked, "No? You don't believe that to be the case?" to which Trump said, " No".

However, Sanders, in the news briefing at the White House seemed to dismiss the interpretations and said, " We wouldn't actually spend as much time and effort as we are if we didn't believe that [Russia is] still looking at us."

A copy of the interaction was posted by Vega on Twitter where she furthered mentioned that the US President looked at her directly while answering the questions.
She tweeted, "Getting a lot of questions about my exchange with @realDonaldTrump today.

Yes, he was looking directly at me when he spoke.

Yes, I believe he heard me clearly. He answered two of my questions.
Here’s the full exchange:"
