Homicide cases in Canada's Alberta region rises high

The report revealed that Alberta's rate of Homicide had been multiplied three times last year the main reason behind that was gang related violence.

The data of Statistics Canada had been divided into three parts. Part one was homicide rate by province, Part two by Gang involvement and Part three by the indigenous or non-indigenous identity of victims.

The three prairie provinces scored top of the list in a country wide homicide rate count.

Alberta came first amongst three worst, by a substantial margin over second in the rank British Columbia, as far as non-indigenous victims were concerned.

While with just one homicide in 2015 Prince Edward Island recorded lowest rate of Homicide in 2015, Alberta had recorded 25 percent increase that was 2.40 homicides in every 100,000 non-indigenous people.

However common Albertans were not much concerned about it, and though the rate was twice the rate of national average most of these homicides in Calgary had been related to organized crime or between
people who were known to each other.

As per crime statistics Alberta with a rate of 0.67 killings related organized crime per 100,0000 people led the country in gang related violence last year.

Particularly, Alberta was top in 2015 in gang related violence and Calgary and Edmonton metropolitan areas accounted for two-thirds of the increase.

In Calgary two large organized crime syndicates had been involved in fighting among themselves centering drugs and territory were responsible for most of the homicides in the city last year, Greg Cooper of Calgary Police Major Crime Unit said in a press conference held earlier.
