Israel-Hamas crisis: IDF strikes 400 targets in Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday (December 2, 2023) said that it has carried out airstrikes against 400 targets across the Gaza Strip since the temporary truce ended.

"Yesterday, Hamas violated the operational pause, and in response, the IDF resumed combat," IDF posted on X.

"Struck a total of over 400 terrorist targets in Gaza," the forces said.

"Struck over 50 targets in the area of Khan Yunis," IDF said.

IDF said fighter jets targeted an Islamic Jihad’s operational command centre inside a mosque.

Israeli Navy troops struck military targets used by Hamas Naval Forces.

IDF said Hamas members violated the truce that was reached between Israel and the group and remained effective till Nov 24.

The return to violence follows the end of a week-long pause in hostilities between Hamas militants and Israeli forces that allowed the delivery of desperately needed fuel, food and water, which people have been drinking as soon as it is given to them, humanitarians report.

The pause also enabled the release of hostages taken during Hamas’s 7 October surprise attack on southern Israel and ensuing massacre of some 1,200 people, and the freeing of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
