Lebanon to shut land borders with Syria over COVID-19 concerns
Beirut/Xinhua/UNI: Lebanon informed Syrian authorities on Saturday that it will shut down land borders with Syria starting on Monday as a measure to restrict spread of COVID-19, according to local media reports.
Sources said that Lebanon has told all its citizens to return home through the land borders.
The sources added that Lebanon has agreed with international organizations to quickly establish two hospitals in Beqaa and the north of Lebanon where Syrian refugees reside in large numbers.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Lebanon has so far reached 78.
