A man threatened police officers with a knife and was shot dead by police earlier Sunday morning in Australia's state of Queensland.

A Queensland police report issued on Sunday morning said the police were called to a Payne Street address in Mount Louisa, a suburb in Queensland's City of Townsville after 12:10 a.m. local time.

During the incident, one man threatened officers with a knife and was subsequently shot by police. The man was declared deceased at the scene.

The police report did not disclose details of the fatal incident but said the police investigations are continuing.
