Israel has confirmed it carried out 480 strikes on military assets in Syria in the past 48 hours since former President Bashar al-Assad's regime toppled amid swift progress by rebels.

Israel Defense Forces said it conducted the strikes to prevent the military assets from falling into the hands of 'terrorist elements'.

IDF said it hit 2 Syrian Navy facilities simultaneously at Al-Bayda port and the Latakia ports where 15 Syrian naval vessels were docked.

"Dozens of sea-to-sea missiles with ranges of 80–190 km were destroyed. Each missile carried significant explosive payloads, posing threats to civilian and military maritime vessels in the area," IDF said.

IDF further said manned warplanes conducted over 350 air strikes on targets across Syria.

"A wide range of targets, including anti-aircraft batteries, Syrian Air Force airfields, and dozens of weapons production sites in Damascus, Homs, Tartus, Latakia, and Palmyra," IDF said.

"Ground Operations: The IDF conducted air strikes on 130 assets in Syria, including weapons depots, military structures, launchers, and firing positions" IDF said.

UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), earlier, said nearly 310 airstrikes were carried out by Israeli fighter jets in Syrian territory since former President Assad's regiment toppled after ruling the civil-war-hit nation for 24 years.

Meanwhile, rebels have taken control over the Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, just days after they seized the capital Damascus, leading to the fall of ex-President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

“We announce the city of Deir Ezzor and its military airport as completely liberated,” Military Operations Command spokesperson Hassan Abdul Ghani was quoted as saying by CNN.

An SDF source told CNN that the Kurdish forces have withdrawn only from the western bank of the Euphrates in Deir Ezzor city.
