North Korea fires ballistic missile into East Sea

Seoul, Mar 18 (IBNS): North Korea on Friday fired a ballistic missile into the East Sea, South Korean media said.

"The ballistic missile flew about 800 kilometers across North Korea before falling into waters off the country's east coast," South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) was quoted as saying by the agency that the missile, which was fired around 5:55 a.m. from the western area of Sukchun, is believed to be a Rodong missile.

Warning against making any more provocations in defiance of the international community, South Korea and the United States had recently said North Korea will face a "stronger and more grave" response.

South Korea and the U.S. have been conducting joint annual military exercises in recent times.
