Pakistan blast: At least 31 killed, 35 injured in Quetta
Quetta, July 25 (IBNS): At least 31 people were killed and another 35 injured in a suspected suicide attack outside a polling station Pakistan's in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan, on Wednesday, Geo News reported.
The deceased include three policemen and two children.
Rescue sources told Geo News that the explosion occurred near a police vehicle which was on routine patrolling.
The blast occurred amid the ongoing national elections in Pakistan.
The suicide bomber wanted to enter the polling station.
A police spokesperson has been quoted by the media outlet as saying, "The suicide bomber blew himself up when police and FC personnel stopped him from entering the station."
Pakistan is voting to elect a new national and several provincial assemblies on Wednesday.
The election will also decide who will be the next Prime Minister of the south Asian nation.
Pakistan's nearly 106 million registered voters are expected to vote on Wednesday.
